The best thing here is the unlimited grill, but keep in mind that it's expensive ($29 per person last year, and I've heard that the prices went up recently), and you can only order if you have at least two people. They'll also automatically add an 18% gratuity, so you're looking at close to $75 for two people after adding in tax and gratuity. Their individual entrees are priced more modestly, in the $13 to $18 range. Don't wear any clothes that you don't mind washing, because you'll smell like grilled meat when you're done. I should add that on the busier days, they won't hesitate to kick you out once it looks like you're done. While I understand their impatience when they have customers waiting to be seated, I also don't like to be rushed while eating. The food is delicious, but the prices are too high to give Gaza a 5-star rating. Still recommended though for those who need a fix of good Korean food, and those who don't mind paying for it.

Stay away from this place! They CHEAT in order to charge you as much as they can. I ordered a spicy pork on last Sunday. In the menu it's listed as lunch special for $9.99. However, when I had the check, I was charged $15.99. They showed me the menu, pointing to the very small words on the upper right corner: lunch special except holiday! This is definitely fooling the customer. I will never go to this place anymore.

We ordered a fairly expensive 2 people-sized hot pot. We expect tasty meats but the only meat is ground beef. A fly is annoyed. The small dishes are not spicy enough, and one of them is not fresh. The waiter was too busy (because he was the only one server). I will not visit again.

Do not order the all you can eat BBQ there! The quality is too bad but the price is very high. Some other food is ok but overpriced.

Koren BBQ. If you don't know what it is, you're deprived. Come to Gaza and check it out. Make sure you bring your appetite though, the all you can eat is expensive but well worth the cost. They also have other menu items including lunch special's.

My colleagues and I were craving vegetables and protein. One of my colleagues wanted to sweat. The answer to these needs: Korean food. This place is pretty good. It has a parking lot shared with other businesses. The staff members were competent and friendly. The food was good. The banchan were good. The prices were good. I would definitely come back here the next time I'm in town.

My boyfriend lives in the area so we decided to check it out. We got the seafood hot pot. It was 35.99 and served two. I'm giving the place 4 stars because I had low expectations about good Korean food in that area and was pleasantly surprised. The place and food were fairly authentic and the flavors were spot on. I will say I had never gotten hot pot at a Korean place before and was really confused when they just set down a pot of raw food in front of us. A little more explanation would have been nice and the crab in the hot pot was meh. Everything was brilliant though.

Gaza is a great find! We went in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon- the place was fairly full, mostly with Korean families and students. The menu is a bit hard to decipher if you aren't too familiar with Korean food- there are different sections for regular appetizers/rice entrees, then hot pots, and finally the grill meals. Each table has a little electric grill on it- we saw many groups frying up their own meat- the whole place smelled like bbq (and so did our clothes after we left). Since we weren't hungry enough to go for the grill, I ordered a bulgogi dish- bbq beef and vegetables over rice in a hot stone bowl. This was really delicious. The meat was tender and the vegetables were fresh. My husband was feeling adventurous and ordered a korean egg roll appetizer- it was kind of like a giant rolled omelet. Not quite what we expected but good all the same and fun to order something new. They bring out salad to start and panchan- which was again really delicious and fresh. This is one of the better Korean meals I've ever had and will certainly return with friends to try the grill. When you go, also stop by the asian market next door which is full of interesting ingredients and snacks!

Used to love it here since its the only korean bbq place available, and I love korean bbq!!! Great Korean food overall, but price is too expensive. And now they have increased their price for korean bbq unlimited but with less types of meat... Disappointed...

Fantastic eel dish I enjoy regularly. Side dishes are great. Very good value. Friendly service and authentic high quality Korean food. Other dishes that I have had and recommend: fried rice dishes, bibim bap, bulgogi.

Food was good but service awful. They could have cared less that we were there. When we asked questions about the restraint, they were uninterested in helping. I won't go back.

Gaza is one of the absolutely BEST places to eat in the Lafayette area! The service is excellent (Rudy is the best!) The owner will often come out to speak with you as well (very nice staff) The appetizers are always great and they bring out as much as you want. The #60 spicy pork is to die for! You cannot leave there hungry. Very Highly recommended!

Do you like meat? No - seriously - do you like meat? If so, this is where you need to go eat. Forget the rest of the menu - what you want is the unlimited/mixed grill. There's 2 different "sets" of meats, and the whole party has to get the same set. So, agree on one (they're both good), and go to it. They first bring out a small salad. It's like 1/10th the size of what we call a salad at our home, but, it's a normal size salad to anyone else. ;) Then they bring out ban chan - tiny little plate of various (and a little different each time) Korean "appetizer" type foods. Kimchi (they make their own!), various other pickled/fermented dishes, small salted/dried fishies, things like that. Then they bring a gigantic tray of the meats. There's a grill in the center of the table, and you throw the meat on, cook it how you like, and then scarf it down. This meat tray is huge. My wife and I have NEVER, ever asked for a second tray. But it IS unlimited; you COULD get more. At some point during service, they bring out 2 soups - one an egg souffle type of deal, and another a very good miso/tofu soup. Then you stumble out of there, happy and confident you just got a huge amount of awesome-tasting protein. Then you go back tomorrow. :D

I love this place mainly because it's the only one I've found in the area with good, pretty authentic Korean food. The service isn't too great, but I've noticed Korean customers get treated a little more kindly sometimes by certain servers. This place can get a little pricy and the bill can shoot way up if you're not careful. Usually, their dangjeong jigae is pretty good, but there was one time I ordered it and it was awful; enough to scare me out of ordering it again for a while. The kimchi jigae isn't the best I've had, but it's still delicious. The bi bim bop is good too, but you can't really mess that up. I think it's really interesting that they bring out a salad before the entrees and the banchan (mini side dishes). The bulgogi is very good too, but I don't think the portion is large enough for the price.

For $22 per person including tip we ate and drank SO much...and took some home! I am not a connoisseur of Korean food, but all the side dishes were very tasty and the hot pot was delicious. The calamari, however, was so tough you could hardly eat it. I would not recommend ordering that with any dish, but all the meats were good, as well as the vegetarian option of substituting tofu for any meat. I wondered if they added MSG to the food because my blood pressure felt up and I was a little wired after. I will ask next time and if they do use MSG I would probably avoid eating there again. The service was good...the waiter was really patient with all our questions about Korean food.

Really amazing food, the buffet is worth every penny, and they are very generous with the appetizers too!

As others have said, its the only Korean bbq joint in town. They play games with their unlimited bbq: they start you off with a selection and you got to finish it all before they will refill specific cuts you want. Their ala carte menu is a little more pricey than I would expect for a Korean restaurant - even Kibu is a little cheaper - but their unlimited BBQ is decently priced.

  • Hope L.

Great food, but terrible service!! Their menu does not accurately show the prices so you do get ripped off. They include 18% gratuity into their bills even though they don't do anything for the table. Not quite sure the food is worth the cost.

  • Luke A.

Had lunch here on a weekday. Ordered spicy pork, it tasted good but the spicy pork at kibu is stil the best I had. There was only one server who had to; give us the salad, fill up drinks, prepare the rice etc, take bills. The service was BAD! I was only tended to twice. When it came to the bill, they had the audacity to "highlight" the suggest tips. You barely give good service and expect 15%? Sorry, not on my check.

Some of the strangest and tastiest food I've had in West Lafayette. While W. Laf might appear to be a normal, small town in the Mid-West, it is anything but thanks to a large international population attending Purdue University. Because of this influx of foreign students W. Laf is home to some unique, exotic and delicious restaurants, Gaza being one of them. Come with an open mind and an empty stomach, because you'll be getting some strange, unusual food and a lot of it. If you get a Hot Pot, be careful not to fill up on the sides before tackling the main dish. I did the opposite and by the time I finished the sides I was almost too full to eat the Hot Pot, but I persevered. I would say don't bring the kids unless they're used to the food, otherwise I think they'd be too put off to enjoy it. But, then again, I don't think people should bring their kids to any restaurant. Or at least one I'm visiting.

The food is good and the price is reasonable for a Korean bbq. What i don't like is the service. It's like they are short on employees there. Side dishes are late and it took them a while to get to our table to take orders.

  • Tony T.

OK, for West Lafayette, IN this place is pretty darn good. There is not a whole lot in this town so having a decent Korean place in this town goes a long way! The service was a bit slow on the front end but as soon as my order was taken, the appetizers and my food came out in a jiffy! If I'm back in town again, I will return!

Gaza has slipped since my last review, and is now just average. Place looks shopworn, but is still very busy with the student trade. Time for a reboot.

I have been here several times and the service can be very mixed. Today the service was very attentive and we were given lots of refills on our soft drinks and banchan. They have several non-BBQ items which are good, but as others have mentioned this is a good place for Korean BBQ (which isn't available at Maru, Green Sprout, or Kibu) which includes a small salad, about 6 banchan (seaweed, kimchi, broccoli, potato salad, black beans, & odaeng), doenjang chigae (spicy soup with tofu), rice, and leaf lettuce for ssam. At least 2 people have to order the BBQ items and each item costs between $14-18. My favorite is the spicy pork.

I came here in November for my birthday, it had been at 5 months since I had any KBBQ at all since moving to Indiana from California. For Indiana, I'd say it's good. But if it were in California, where I'm using to have KBBQ, this wouldn't be the place I would willingly go. The marinade is good but there's not much flavor to any of it, I wish they'd just give me a side of the marinade to dip my meat in after. They didn't have radish wraps, or chili dipping sauce. They did have fish cake so that's a plus .. Their kimchi was good too. It's the only AYCE kbbq that I know of that's not over 2 hours away. So if I want AYCE KBBQ, I would come here. If I'm content with just have a single plate if meat, which I'm probably not, I'll probably go elsewhere ..

As a korean, I can say the food is authentic and pretty good. It's a little pricey but it's worth it. You can get unlimited rice and side dishes for no additional cost. The only issue I have is that most of the entree on their lunch menu is only a dollar cheaper than their dinner menu. The Korean grill is a must. Do not get the unlimited grill unless you know for a fact you can eat all day (to eat your money's worth). The only thing to be aware of is they automatically add an 18% tip for the Korean grill. When you get your bill to sign, it doesn't show that the tip has been added. Make sure you change your shirt or spray fragrance afterwards because you will smell like Korean grill.

I have been many times in Gaza a few years ago. I liked it. Then, the owner was changed and so did the menu. In the grill, beef and shrimp is the best. Their side dishes were better than other local korean joints such as maru and kibu. Generally, their new food is good. But, with the price they charge, I should get more and better. This is the only reason I do not go back to Gaza very often. You grill yourself for your food. You have to spend at least $30 for a good meal in Gaza. Also, the worst is 18% tip is already added to your bill whether you like it or not while there is an option of letting you give more %.

Whenever we want meat, this is where we go. And we get the Mixed Grill There's a lot of other reasons to go here, they do have vegetarian dishes and their hot pot dishes are very good. Appetizers are large!!, and fun to split with 1 - 3 people. But we go here for the meat. You get first (almost no matter what you order) a simple green salad. After you order you get Banchan. Banchan is an extremely wonderful seasonal collection of mini-dishes. Kimchee is usually part of it, as they ferment their own in the kitchen. You may get a seaweed dish, tiny little minitiny-anchovies, marinated sprouts, a moderate size salad, etc. There's probably around 7 mini dishes in all, and all give you a different look into Korean cuisine. Then there's the Mixed Grill. A nice big platter of meats comes out, you take it off the plate with tongs and cook it to your liking on the grill that's in the table. 3-4 different dipping sauces are given. With the Mixed Grill comes an egg souffle dish with vegetables and a wonderful seasonally-vegetabled miso soup. Good, simple food. The only thing that you may not expect is that they do add a 18% gratuity to your bill for Mixed grill so be forewarned when you go to write on the tipline. If you like meat. Go here. If you like meat + rice/starches, there's something here for you too. If you don't eat meat, there's selections for you too =) Good food, good times - bring friends!

Great food, me and a lady friend got the unlimited grill. Didn't know that you had to cook the bbq itself (I'm a DC native and the places I went always had people do it for us) but I quickly learned. Great selection of meat and the taste was pretty good. They give you complimentary panchan (table dishes, basically mini appetizers) and they'll give you more if you're empty. Kimchee was good and so was the egg/miso soup. A bit pricey for a college student budget but you get what you pay for! I would definitely come here again.

I've been to Gaza twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. I went with the spicy pork for lunch, and it was delicious--only about $7. The unlimited grill for dinner was $20, but you have to have a minimum of 2 orders. If you aren't hungry, then don't order the unlimited grill--it's a lot of food and you won't get your money's worth if you don't finish it. Good service, good food.

we go here for the all you eat korean bbq and usually with come with at least 10 people so i think the owners see fear when they see us coming becuase we manage to eat an abnormal amount of meat. it's pretty good for the price that we pay but the only thing is they should have bulgolgi, like marinated bulgolgi too. they start to cut down on portions too when we start asking for seconds, thirds, fourths, etc... well worth it

  • donna s.

Seriously, if you're meat deprived. come here. It used to be really good. you order your own meat and cook it yourself. But now its all you can eat, which can be a good thing if you eat a lot, but sucks for the others because you probably wont get your money's worth. Also, you can't just order all the same meat, you get a bunch of nonsense meat and no one even wants. Also, if one person wants to grill, everyone else has to grill, you can't do half and half. whateverrr. But their G2(marinated rib eye. i think) and their seafood tofu soup is gooood.

  • k e.

Gaza is the only Korean BBQ that I know of in WL. I have been several times for dinner, and a few times for lunch. I haven't been disappointed a single time. They have several lunch specials all around $6-7. Dinner can run a bit higher but they offset the cost with appetizers and a salad. The rib eye and pork are marinated well and are very good.

  • Rod Y.

Well, I have been to this place several times and the food is ok. Not the best flavors for Korean food but good enough for a town of such small size. However, I will never go back to this place after my last experience. I received the worst service from any establishment in my life. The place was not crowded but it took 20 minutes for the server to take our order. The only time he stopped by after serving our food was midway through the meal to give me the bill. You take your time to serve me and now want to kick me out!? I have never been ignored to this level at a restaurant. Maybe it was a one time deal, but this one time was bad enough for me to never go back.
